*Sessions are typically 50 minutes.

Evaluation & Assessment

Through the individualized evaluation process, a child's engagement, foundational gross and fine motor skills, visual perceptual skills, and sensory processing skills can be assessed in order to determine the impact of challenges on functional performance at home, school, or within the community. Evaluative sessions are 1:1 and include a combination of standardized assessment, informal measures, and clinical observations. The comprehensive evaluation service includes: a one-on-one evaluation session, parent/teacher/other caregiver interview, a written report with assessment interpretations, proposed recommendations, and measurable goals to guide weekly therapy, and a 30-minute parent follow-up in order to review questions, proposed treatment plan and goals for therapy.

  • In-person evaluative sessions are typically 60 or 90 minutes long depending on the areas in need of assessment.

  • Telehealth evaluations are available when an in-person evaluation is not feasible. *Contact me for more information.

Individual Therapy Sessions

With the therapeutic and creative use of everyday life activities, and the use of developmentally appropriate play and a child's interests, occupational therapy sessions support children in meeting developmental motor milestones, overcome sensory challenges, improve self-care and independence in daily routines, and support play and self-regulation skills. Sessions utilize a sensory integrative approach in which we aim to create fun and stimulating sensory experiences through play to address fine motor and gross motor skills, encourage movement and increase body awareness and problem solving skills, and help develop new skills and adaptive behaviors and responses. Pediatric occupational therapy services can address:

  • Fine motor development and skills needed for school readiness (pencil grasp, pre-handwriting, handwriting, and scissors skills)

  • Body awareness and motor coordination

  • Building foundational cognitive skills including engagement, social reciprocity, joint attention, impulse control, and problem solving skills

  • Activities of daily living (dressing, feeding, toileting routine, bathing, teeth brushing, etc.)

  • Play skills - building collaborative, cooperative and functional play skills

  • Attention and self-regulation skills

*In-person and Telehealth sessions are a full clinical hour (50 minutes of therapy plus 10 minutes of parent wrap up, documentation and scheduling.)

School Based Services
School based services can include:
  • Consulting with parents and teachers, connecting with IEP service providers, and attending IEP meetings upon the request of the parent(s).

  • School observations to collaborate with teachers and support progress towards goals.

  • Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) - evaluations are a foundational tool by which students are determined (or not) to be eligible for special education and related services under the under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (“IDEA”).

Feeding Therapy

I utilize the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Approach to feeding. SOS is a holistic approach that considers the whole child as it relates to their sensory, motor, cognitive, and oral-motor skills, and strongly emphasizes systematic desensitization to support children with feeding difficulties.

Through parent-therapist Zoom meetings we will:

  • Explore the root of your child's sensory and behavioral responses to food, and provide resources and parent education to support understanding of your child's feeding challenges.

  • Create a shared understanding of your child's and family's needs and set individualized goals for both parents and the child.

  • Collaborate on identifying strategies and creative ways to promote a willingness to explore and try new foods.

  • Continually assess progress and modify home recommendations.

Through guided parent-child sessions we will:

  • Receive in-the-moment training and guidance in designing mealtimes.

  • Learn how to playfully create graded sensory experiences that encourage learning, play and exploration of food.

  • Work through challenging moments with support.

  • Make eating and trying new foods feel fun and safe, and create a social and connected experience between parents and the child.
